What Iam starting with
Not much, just an average abused rental that I bought. The barrel is fixed brass. It's very nice, but hopefully it will change. I have another body trying to get a barrel re-thread. I really like pump markers. I'm going to give this marker a complete face lift. Nothing really fancy. Just enough to notice a difference. So I'm going to try and turn an UGLY Duckling into a Swan. This is one of the last gun projects I will do. I need to start playing and having fun. UPDATE: 02 June 06 I have tapped the threads in the Sterling myself. I have added a Raptor freak back and a Raptor barrel.

The Body
Well as you can see from the pictures, it's fairly beat up. Not much to brag about at this point. What do you expect from a rental. They are thrown into a pile at the end of the day. This is a fixed glue brass barrel Bronze model. |

Internals
These are a little beat up. Looks like someone took the spring guide to a grinder. The valve stem and cup seal are from an auto cocker. The valve is basically shot(deep maring marks). Trigger sear and hammer sear are more than worn down. You can see that the frame rail holes are a bit worn as well. The seal is also worn down. If you look close there is a new hammer. The spring guide is a bit shorter and there is a recess in the back for the valve stem to hit. Prevents on wear. It's a good thing Sterling decided to start selling parts again. Mark Ambrose is our local state side parts dealer now.

The frame
This is the first modification I did. I replaced the stock frame with an Auto Mag frame that I bought on ebay. I like the chrome look. It will accent the new anodizing once it's done. This worked out very well. The sear is in the exact place as a cocker sear. I used a duplicating punch and a drilling fixture to hold both frames together while I did all the matching up of holes. The trigger hole is in the perfect spot. No need to redrill a new hole just enlarge it. |

Vert Air adapter
I got this from Rainman 229. It fit very well. An Oring replaced the rubber gasket. Doesn't really matter as long as there is a seal so air doesn't escape.

Gas thru
Just an old one I had laying around. Might grow up to be an inline reg. Never know with me. I don't even know what company makes it. Either way it will be part of the anodizing batch. Only reason I'm actually adding this is because it will lessen the bottom air line that I have to use. |

Rear ASA
Rainman made a few of these to sell. So I'm going with the Rainman side tapped valve. Excellent work as usual.

The raw finish
This is what it looks like now. At this point the barrel is not threaded. A rear ASA has not been added yet. The new internal parts are not yet installed. I am going to hard line the vert air to rear ASA line. I know it looks ugly now but it will change as all my projects do. Nothing a little anodizing can't fix. |
